Baskerville Hall is situated along the A438 just west of the village of Clyro and about two miles from the town of Hay on Wye (by-passed by the main road). The hotel offers good value rooms and there is a large camping field which is generally flat.
Indoor and outdoor picking, bar, restaurant and even a swimming pool! The area is close to the river Wye and there are lovely walks close by too. In short, a great place to go to play music and relax.
The Junction Bluegrass 9th - 12th September 2021
We are looking at light at the end of the tunnel for our addiction to Bluegrass music festivals and sessions and to celebrate all things `Grassy` Dave Lee (Cotton Arms and Bhurtpore Inn picking weekends), and I have negotiated with the Junction Pub in Rainford an event in September 2021.
The Junction has a great history in Bluegrass for many years. It is held the Wednesday night Bluegrass sessions for a long time and with the help of our friend, regular picker and BBMA member Dave Bresnan, it has also hosted many famous American Bluegrass artists.
To continue this tradition and hopefully assist in opening music events Dave, Paul and the rest of the Junction session members would like to invite you to a Picking Weekend at the Pub.
It is a large pub with its own function room that holds over a 100 people and plenty of other areas for picking. Outside features a first floor and ground floor terrace plus the beer garden. If has a huge camping field at the back which has hosted many outdoor camping and music events. It is suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes and offers more than a hundred pitches. In addition is the rather large permanent large marquee that can hold well over 300 people. It has its own bar, lighting, seating, a stage, a PA and it is fully carpeted. There are toilets, freshwater and a waste disposal point.
The Pub has a good menu for food and will provide breakfast with notice the day before.
Following our talk with Paul all this It is ours for the weekend.
So, we have everything to offer the music starved Bluegrass and Old-Time picker come rain or shine.
To get this venue up and running as a Bluegrass and Old-Time event we have arranged a daily camping only fee of £15 a pitch for up to 4 people sharing. Accompanied children under 16 free. Pay at reception upon arrival. If you are a non-camping visitor for the day or evening a small donation will help the funding and secure next year’s event.
We are considering an open mike session, scratch bands if there is enough interest.
Should there be a positive response we do have the facility to do a Saturday night evening bands concert but that may require a small additional charge and accommodating bands. We will see.
So, when is it? It is a busy venue, but we have a weekend slot starting Thursday the 9th of September until Sunday the 12th. Paul will consider a regular yearly event if it goes well.
